Site Notes
This is a working accessibility note, not a completed audit. It records what the site is trying to support now and where future improvements should be tracked.
The core experience is the content: history, recipes, facts, celebration ideas, sources, and creator notes. Those pages should be readable, responsive, and structured with headings, landmarks, lists, links, and plain text that do not depend on visual decoration.
The top navigation and footer links should work predictably with a mouse, keyboard, or touch. Link text should describe where it goes, and page layouts should not overlap or hide content on small screens.
The footer feedback form opens in a dialog, moves focus into the form, can be closed with Escape or the close button, and returns focus to the feedback trigger. The form should keep labels, status messages, and validation clear.
The Work With Julie page includes a separate employment-opportunity form with visible labels, required fields, a status message, and keyboard-friendly form controls. It should stay distinct from general site feedback.
Corn on the Cob Day uses small transitions, hover responses, a live countdown, and playful visual treatments. Motion can be part of the site's character, but reduced-motion preferences should be respected and the site should still make sense when motion is reduced.
The homepage countdown is a live seasonal feature, but the important information is also available as text: Corn on the Cob Day is observed on June 11. The countdown should clarify the date without becoming the only way to understand it.
Kernel Defender is bonus play, not the only way to participate in the site. It currently needs a focused accessibility pass before it should be treated as a fully accessible game experience.
If something is hard to read, hard to use, or unpleasant to navigate, the feedback link in the footer is the best current way to report it.
